Embodying the Bold Spirit of Ambition: Suntory's Yatte Minahare Story Series Features Archita Khanna's Journey at Beam Suntory India

Suntory was founded on the fundamental value of Yatte Minahare - the bold spirit of ambition. This spirit is about dreaming big and embracing the challenges that lie ahead. Since our founding over 120 years ago, Yatte Minahare has defined who we are as a company, even as our business has grown globally.

Each month, Suntory is introducing Suntorians from around the world - the people who make our business possible - by sharing their Yatte Minahare stories. Through this, our employees describe how they embody our company's founding spirit in both their work and their daily lives.

As part of this Yatte Minahare story series, Archita Khanna, Communications, Events & CSR Manager at Beam Suntory India, shared how she channeled the bold spirit of ambition when adapting to a new role, new industry, and new ways of working during the pandemic. Archita also discussed what inspires her to have a positive impact on customers, the environment and society in her role at Beam Suntory India.

Q. What motivates you to keep pushing our Growing for Good commitment forward every day?

"Our vision of Growing for Good provides a larger purpose to my job. I am inspired to know that my contribution is not just limited to business growth, but to the larger good of society. It gives me immense pride to talk about the positive impact we've been able to make on the environment and our society so far, and share this passion with the people in my life."

Q. What drives you toward continued progress in your career?

"I believe that businesses have a unique opportunity to fuel social and economic growth and I am driven by the potential role that I can play in this progress. I am constantly looking for ways to upskill and bring more value to the table in order to create a larger impact. For me, progress equates to a larger role in society's welfare and that motivates me to do better every day."

Q. What is your best "Yatte Minahare" story - a time where you acted boldly, tackled a challenge or turned a dream into reality?

"I joined Beam Suntory at a very peculiar time - when the world was still trying to understand how remote working will shape up and employees will respond to pressures of personal and professional life. In the first two weeks, I found myself lost in a new role, new industry, new ways of working and a new culture. It was during my induction that I came across the term Yatte Minahare and what it meant, and immediately knew that this was the answer I was looking for. I then worked hard to understand the market dynamics in India, our business, and the industry, and the ways in which I could support the business.

"Today, I can confidently say that I am not only able to make strategic decisions for our brand and respond to emerging trends but proactively counsel the leadership team on avenues we should explore to highlight our business purpose. Hoping to continue strengthening this skill and add more value to our growth in the future!"
